Al-Malik Al-Afdal

Profile:
Abbas Al-Rasuli is an encyclopedia who combined between theoretical and practical science, perhaps the need of the authority and leadership gave him hope to write in various fields by responding to the need and excelling in his offer.
In his book “Bughyat Al-Fallahin”, there is a chapter entitled “the fifth chapter in times of agriculture and what needs to be achieved”. He divided the chapter into three sections and said “know that the most important thing one needs to know is the times of sowing and planting in order to aim for what is good for it, and to avoid what spoils it”.
He expanded his research on the “seasons of the year” and mentioned the schools of thought in that regard, then suggested “the seasons do not have a known limit, rather they differ in the country according to the difference in their circles of latitude”.
He distinguished between seasons of the year for astrologers, he said: “they are the seasons of the year for farmers”.
A careful reading of this analysis and other Islamic and human heritage requires a review of the typical solar seasons in the Gregorian date, in addition to reconsidering the globalization of colonial measures and standards, that do not necessarily serve the colonized countries, because they do not serve their goal and their purpose in all aspects of life using imported standards and measures.
Biography:
He was one of the Yamani scholars, who combined between science and authority; he took a sufficient science, like history, genealogy, biography, linguistics, then took the power after his father passed away in Zabid town in Yemen and was the sixth king of the Rasulid state, and ruled for about fourteen centuries, during which he faced several problems and was able to overcome them.
He wrote books and letters in various fields and sciences.
Some of his books are: “Bughayat Dhawi Al-Himam fi Taarif bi Ansab Al-Arab wa Al-Ajem (Presenting dynasty of Arab and non-Arab people)”, “Al-Ataya Al-Sunnia fi Al-Manaqib Al-Yamenia”, “Maarifat Al-Imam wa Shurut (Definition and Conditions of Ruler)”, “Nayl Al-Aghrad fi Mudawat Al-Amrad (Remedies for Some Diseases)” “Nuzhat Al-Uyun fi Tarikh Tawaif Al-Qurun (History of Tribes in the Previous Centuries)” “Nuzhat Al-Absar fi Ikhtisar Kanz Al-Akhbar” “Qa’ima biha Kalimat Bil-Arabia wa Muqabala bil-Ithiupia (A List of Arabic Words with their equivalent in Ethiopian)”, “Siyasset Al-Juyush Wa Tadbir Al-Hurub (Army Policy and War Management)”, “Al-Aqwal Al-Kafia”, which is a book about horses, their description and origins, “Maarifat Al-Bahaim wa Amraduha (Knowing Animals and their Illnesses)” “Risala fi Tarbiyat Al-Samaq (A Study on Fish Farming)”.
Time Science Achievements:
Among his academic achievements which have to do with time: like astronomy, agriculture, calendar, observatories, sighting the crescent we can mention the following:
– “Bughayat Al-Fallahin Fi Al-Ashjar Al-Muthmira wa Ar-Rayahin (Farmers’ guide in Fruit Trees and Basil)” included by the chapter in times and agriculture, investigated by researcher Khalid Al-Wahaibi from Oman, published in 1437 A.H/ 2016 A.D.
– “Selwat Al-Mahmum Fi Ilm An-Nujum”.
– “Iqtibassat Min Az-Zij Al-Mustalah Al-Misri”.
– “Al-Amal Bil-Kura Dhat Al-Kursi”.
– “Kitab Fi Al-Astrolab (A Book in Astrolabe)”.
– “Sharh Amel Al-Qura Alladhi Wada’ahu Betlaimus (Explanation of the work of the sphere developed by Ptolemy)”.
– “Jadwal Istikhraj Ard Al-Qamar Li Roayet Al-Hilal (Table of Extracting the Width of the Moon to Sight the Crescent)”.
– “Al-Shamil Limahassin Al-Tarikh Fi Al-Jadawil”.
